I told someone recently about my burgeoning interest in birding, and she said “yeah, well, you’re over 50, so that makes sense!” Touché. Well, I recently took a significant step towards being able to actually capture some decent bird images, and that was to buy a big ol’ zoom lens. I got to break it in over 4th of July week/weekend at my brother- and sister-in-laws’ house in New Hampshire. They have a well-trafficked feeder, and along with the Merlin bird id app, it kind of became our primary source of entertainment for the week that we were up there.
