I can't believe 2026 is already 1/12th of the way done. I didn't shoot a ton of picturese in January, but I did get out there and capture some of my favorite birds in flight images over the frozen lake in Prospect Park.
I also captured a few other bird photos that I’m proud of. Here are a cardinal and a red-bellied woodpecker.
The lengthy cold snap we’ve had in New York City (and the whole Northeast) has led to perfect conditions for ice skating on the lake. I’m a big ol’ scaredy cat, so I gingerly stepped a few feet out onto the ice to capture some photos of some brave (foolhardy?) hockey players practicing.
Of course I still love my street photography, and will always try to capture images that illustrate my everyday surroundings.
