Trying something new; let's see if I can get it to stick. Here are some of my favorite images that I shot in August. No real trends, unless you count suddenly getting into bird phototgraphy. This image of a grey catbird is one of my absolute favorites photos that I've shot lately. I love the detail and his little face; he's singing in celebration of just having eaten one of those berries.
iPhone Macros
I go on kicks every now and again where I bring my Moment 75mm Macro T-Series lens on my lunch walks, and capture macros of the bees and other critters I find. I am usually pretty reliably blown away by the results I get.
Birds, and More Birds
Aside from the catbird at the top of this post, I got a few other species I had never seen or photographed before (“lifers”, in the parlance of the birding community), including the lesser yellow-legs and an osprey, who made pretty intense eye contact with me. (Cut it out, buddy, I’m married!)
People and Street
The rest are a melange of images I made during the month. Some are portraits of friends, like fellow photographer and technophile Phil; and the always lovely and talented Zhenya, a friend and former co-worker who I caught up with over a drink. I also attended an event called World Photography Day, hosted by legendary photographer Jamel Shabazz and Brooklyn borough president Antonio Reynoso. The last image is from the Little Brother concert at Brooklyn Bowl.
